A delegation from the UN mission residing in Hodeidah inspected, on Monday, Shawwal 23, 1446 AH, corresponding to April 21, 2025, the ports of Salif and Ras Issa, to see the extent of the damage caused to them by the bombing attack launched by the American aggression.

The delegation, headed by Mr. Mohammed Rafiq Islam, included UN experts Mohammed Zaini bin Othman, Augustine Kwesi acibor, and Richard sikitelko, while the Yemeni side was headed by field liaison officer Colonel Ali al-Matari.

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the scale of the widespread destruction of the infrastructure of the two ports, and listened to an explanation about the serious repercussions of targeting the ports, and the implications of this on the humanitarian and economic situation in the country, especially in light of the continuation of the blockade and the escalation of the humanitarian crisis.

The members of the UN mission expressed their deep dismay at the scale of the destruction. They stressed that their visit aims to document violations in accordance with international humanitarian law, and that they are preparing an impartial and objective report that will be submitted to the concerned UN bodies.

For his part, Colonel Al-Matari stressed that the visit comes within the framework of cooperation with the United Nations to uncover and expose the crimes of the aggression. He pointed out that the destruction of ports hinders the arrival of aid and increases the suffering of citizens.

It is noteworthy that the ports of Salif and Ras Issa are one of the most important sea ports for the import of basic materials, and their targeting has damaged the operational process, amid UN warnings of worsening the humanitarian disaster in the event of continued targeting and blockade.

The UN Mission Continues to implement its weekly port monitoring visits program as part of the redeployment mechanisms, which is expected to play its role in mobilizing international pressure to stop targeting vital civilian facilities in Yemen.
