A team from the UN mission UNMHA headed by Mr.Mohammed Rafiq al-Islam, on, Wednesday, 23-4-2025, reviewed the damage caused by the American aggression targeting the building of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs branch in the port of Hodeida with several raids, which led to its destruction and out of Service.

The team heard from the director of the authority's Branch, Dr. Ibrahim al-Mushki, an explanation about the serious damage suffered to the building and its technical facilities as a result of the bombing by the aggression, and the serious repercussions of this on the safety of navigation and the marine environment. He pointed out that the authority is a civil institution and an active member of the International Maritime Organization, which criminalizes targeting international laws and conventions.

The UN team expressed its deep dismay at the scale of the destruction caused to the building. He stressed that the mission will make every effort to record and document the damage of the shelling.

The UN mission team visited the berths of Hodeida port and was briefed on the efforts of the leadership and port workers in receiving ships and unloading their loads of foodstuffs.

The General Authority for Maritime Affairs condemned the brutal American aggression on civilian objects and service facilities in Yemen.

A statement issued by the main center of the authority in the capital, Sana'a, condemned the targeting of the American enemy of the authority's branch in Hodeida governorate by several raids last Saturday, which led to significant material damage to the building and its total out-of-Service.

The statement stressed that the General Authority for Maritime Affairs confirms that it continues to perform its service tasks of a civilian nature and exercise its activities in ensuring the safety of maritime navigation and preserving the marine environment from pollution, pointing out that the leadership and cadres of the authority continue to exercise their duties in a position of responsibility and these criminal acts will only increase them more steadfastness to perform their duty to the fullest.

The commission, which is an active member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), stressed the civility of its work, calling on the international community, the United Nations, all human rights organizations and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to shoulder their responsibilities in front of this blatant aggression and flagrant violation of all laws, customs and international agreements and to fulfill their legal and moral duties towards the unjust, wanton and unjustified aggression practiced by the arrogant and aggressive state the United States of America against the Republic of Yemen.
