Hodeida Governor and German Ambassador inspected the container terminal and were briefed by the Chairman of the Corporation on the extent of the damage to its infrastructure and superstructure, and the obstruction it suffers from preventing the entry of ships.

On Thursday, 07/28/22 The Governor of Hodeida, Mohammad Ayash Qahim, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, Hubert Jeeger, and his accompanying delegation inspected,  the progress of work in the port of Hodeida.

Mr. Qahim and Mr. Weiger, along with the Director of Aid at the German Foreign Ministry, Mr. Fris Gayer Susan, the Resident Representative of the World Food Program in Yemen Mr. Richard Rajan, the Regional Director of the World Food Program Mr. Corinne Fleischer, and the Deputy Director of the World Food Program Office in Berlin Mr. Sigrid Müller, were briefed on the mechanism for receiving relief aid at the container terminal and berths. In the port connecting through the World Food Program.

They were also briefed on the extent of the destruction inflicted on container-handling gantry cranes by the aggression, and heard from the head of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, a detailed explanation about the work and activity of the port, and the procedures and treatments taken by the Corporation to restart it as a result of the siege, direct targeting and the destruction that befell it. With its infrastructure and superstructure as a result of the aggression, reviewing the level of cooperation between the Corporation and the World Food Program and the most prominent needs that it requires to be provided to the port to carry out its humanitarian and relief duty, which is to provide cranes and bridge cranes for container handling, and maintenance of equipment, devices and basic requirements of technical maintenance and operation equipment.

He explained the importance and role of the port geographically and demographically, whether for donors or for the Yemeni people, as a lifeline for them in providing basic needs and materials for about 70 percent of the Yemeni people.

He pointed out that the corporation carries out its activities with specialized "civilian" cadres, and is in compliance with the International System for Port Security (ISPC-Cod).

Captain Ishaq stressed that targeting the port of Hodeida is in contravention of all international laws and covenants and contradicts what is stated in Articles 55 and 56 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which stipulates the need to provide the population with food and medical supplies during the war.

Pointing out that the direct targeting of the port on August 17, 2015, led to the container terminal being out of service and the loss of 60 percent of the port's operational capacity.

He noted the Corporation ,s keenness to provide all facilities to the program and to contribute to the implementation of its humanitarian and relief activities.

He pointed out that despite the UN truce, the port of Hodeida is still besieged and there are continuous obstacles to the entry of ships carrying relief aid, oil derivatives and gas, and the entry of container ships, despite the ships obtaining the necessary permits from the United Nations.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany valued the warm reception and welcome . He pointed out that his visit and the accompanying delegation to the Hodeida governorate come to closely examine the damage caused to the civil service facilities, including the port of Hodeida as a result of the aggression and the relief aid provided by the World Food Program and its distribution mechanism and the extent to which the target beneficiaries benefit from it .

He praised the efforts made by the Corporation's leadership in restarting the port of Hodeida, despite the scarcity of capabilities, obstacles and the siege imposed on it.

They were accompanied during the visit by the director of the branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Jaber Hussein Al-Razhi, the Vice chairman of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Mr. Zaid Ahmed Al-Washli, and a number of directors-general of the corporation.

On Tuesday, 14-6-2022 A meeting in Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, headed by the Chairman of the Corporation, Captain Mohammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, discussed the level of performance of the Corporation during the past months of this year.

The meeting, which included the Vice-chairman of the Corporation, Mr. Zaid Ahmed Al-Washli, and the general managers of the Corporation's general departments, discussed the Corporation's service and operational activity, administrative and financial aspects, and the difficulties facing the workflow and ways to address them according to the available capabilities.

In the meeting, Captain Ishaq indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the performance of the work of the various departments and to inform the general managers of the results of the meetings of the corporation's leadership with the country's  leadership during the past days.

He stressed the understanding of the leadership of the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government of the national role played by the corporation and its ports and the efforts it is making in serving the Yemeni people.

The meeting reviewed the nature of the humanitarian work of the corporation in light of the changes in the national field, pointing out that the corporation went through difficult circumstances and serious challenges that made it a fortified economic fortress and made it a challenging front, steadfastness and a sense of responsibility.

Ishaq praised the role of the employees and workers of the corporation and their legendary steadfastness during the various time periods that the corporation went through and their defiance of obstacles and difficulties in the service of the society as a whole.

 The head of the corporation called on everyone to work in the spirit of one team and to sense responsibility and divine control in all work and to strive to serve the great Yemeni people, who have proven their authentic metal through their steadfastness and self-esteem in light of the current circumstances that the country is going through.

The general managers enriched the meeting with discussions and topics about the importance of advancing the work of the corporation, raising revenues, rationalizing expenditures and addressing imbalances.
