The Minister of Transport, General Abdul-Wahhab Yahya Al-Durra, inaugurated the maintenance work of the asphalt yards of Salif port berth in Hodeida Governorate, which is financed by Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation at a cost of 147 million riyals.

The project, with a length of 17,400 square meters, under the supervision of the General Administration of Projects and the Engineering Supervision of the Corporation, aims at a comprehensive restoration of the yards and filling the gaps with the asphalt layer to reduce the traffic of vehicles.

Minister Al-Durra, along with the head of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, heard from the Director General of the General Administration of Projects at the Corporation, Engineer Sami Makbouli, an explanation of the tasks of the maintenance team and equipment to complete the project according to the two-month schedule.

Minister Al-Durra noted the efforts of the corporation's leadership in financing and supporting this project, as well as its interest in restoration and maintenance projects for asphalt yards, which represent a priority in the Foundation’s management plan for the current year 1444 AH.

He urged the implementation of the project according to its own study and adherence to the specifications of asphalt and the quantities approved for the maintenance of the yards to prevent any damages resulting in new losses in the restoration and rehabilitation of these yards.

Minister Al-Durra and head of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammad Abu Bakr Ishaq,, were briefed on the operational process at the port and inspected the tug boat Ras Issa and the towing services it provides for ships arriving at the port.

The inauguration and the visit were attended by the general managers of the office of the chairman of the corporation, Mr. Nabil Omar Al-Mazhaji, planning by Dr. Wadah Majmal, technical affairs, engineer Fahd Al-Jaboubi, procurement Ahmed Salem, marine operations in the corporation, Captain Mohamed Al-Says, and the two deputy directors of the port, engineer Hussein Nasser, and port security major Mustafa Nour.

On Thursday 04/02-1444 AH, a meeting at -Salif Port in Hodeida Governorate, chaired by the Minister of Transport, General Abdulwahab Yahya Al-Durra, discussed the project plan included in the future vision for developing the port in various aspects.

The meeting, which included the chairman of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, reviewed the directions of the leader of the revolution, Lord. Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, which he delivered during the launch of the local development program and joint work between state agencies and institutions as a plan of action to enhance port activity, improve performance and provide services, which included seven centers (sensing responsibility and honesty in all aspects - training and qualification of state cadres in the faith field and providing them with the necessary skills and experience - attention to performance evaluation that helps develop performance and avoiding shortcomings - job discipline - attention to services and development - activating community initiatives and benefiting from it in the service and development side - Interest in agriculture, especially wheat(

In the meeting, the Minister of Transport confirmed that the visit to Salif port comes to see the extent of the implementation of the projects listed in the approved plans, to discuss aspects related to the port’s activity, to identify its needs, and to take appropriate solutions and treatments for the difficulties facing the port.

He stressed the redoubling of efforts to preserve the port's equipment, mechanisms and infrastructure and to upgrade the services provided in it, as it is one of the priorities that must be worked on in the coming period.

 General Al-Durra pointed out the need for everyone to sense responsibility and complementary work to implement the general directives of the Leader and the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council.

He also affirmed the Ministry's support for all efforts aimed at improving the port's conditions. He praised the role of the Corporation's leadership and port management in preparing a plan for projects' priorities.

The Chairman of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation pointed out the importance of Salif Port in receiving giant ships and the role it will play in the future in entering ships loaded with wheat in large quantities, especially in light of the existing global situation.

Hussein Nasser Hussein Farea, spoke on what was included in the executive plan projects to improve and develop services in the port, including networking, activating the automated system, establishing an electronic monitoring system, lighting poles, maintenance of the three lighting towers on the berth, allocating a parking lot for locomotives, maintaining the front of the western berth, and rehabilitating the layer. Asphalt, installing rubber protectors, installing axial scales, constructing warehouses for storing goods, purchasing and supplying two mobile cranes, and others.

Noting the efforts of the port employees and its affiliated facilities, their steadfastness and the performance of their functional duties despite the continued aggression and siege.

A visit was also made to the berths and to see the operational process and the navigational activity in the port.

The meeting was attended by the General Managers of the Office of the Chairman of the Corporation, Mr. Nabil Omar Al-Mizjaji, Planning Dr. Wadah Majmal, Technical Affairs, Engineer Fahd Al-Jaboubi, purchases Ahmed Salem, Projects Engineer Sami Makbouli, Marine Operations of the Corporation, Captain Mohamed Al-Says, and Deputy Director of Port Security Major Mustafa Nour.
