On Thursday, 15-5-2025, the minister of transport and Public Works, Major General Mohammad Ayash qahim, reviewed the progress of work at the berths of Hodeida port, and the level of efforts exerted in facilitating, keeping up with and regularity of the entry and exit operations of ships to and from the docks.
During the visit, he listened to an explanation from the crews on duty about the mechanism of work, the scheduling of ships, the procedures followed in organizing unloading operations, the extent of the smooth navigation movement after the port was bombed by the Zionist aggression, and the continuous measures to overcome obstacles and ensure the arrival of necessary supplies to the Yemeni people.
Minister qahim praised the efforts of the port's staff and their responsible performance for the continuity of navigation and commercial services, stressing that their steadfastness and continuous efforts represent a national model to face the repercussions of the repeated Zionist aggressions, and to continue work on receiving and unloading ships despite the direct targeting of infrastructure.
He stressed the ministry's keenness to continue the field landing to track the performance of ports, foremost of which is the port of Hodeida, which suffered significant damage due to its targeting by the Zionist enemy, indicating that the ministry attaches the highest priority to this vital sector in its current and future plans to ensure the continuity of its service and economic role in serving the Yemeni people
He pointed to the importance of the port of Hodeida as an economic and humanitarian facility that represents a major lifeline in Yemen, pointing to the interest of the leader of the revolution, the chairman of the Supreme Political Council and the government of change and construction to address the conditions of the port, and their continuous guidance to rehabilitate it and ensure its readiness to deal with various circumstances and changes.
The minister of transport and Public Works pointed to a number of programs to be implemented to enhance the role of Hodeida port in meeting basic needs, and raise its technical and operational capacity to keep pace with the increasing volume of maritime traffic, stressing that the challenges will not be an obstacle to the National will, but an impetus towards further development to secure the arrival of goods and various commodities.
He praised the professional commitment and high patriotic spirit of the employees of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation and its leadership, praising the spirit of responsibility and discipline shown by everyone, which had a great impact on the port's continued performance of its duties despite the damage it suffered.
