Minister of transport and Public Works Mr. Mohammed Ayash qahim, on Wednesday, 9 Dhu al-Qaida 1446 AH, corresponding to May 7, 2025, together with the team of the United Nations mission to support the Hodeida agreement "UNMHA", inspected the damage caused to the berths of the port of Hodeidah, as a result of the raids launched by the Israeli enemy aircraft, last Monday.

During the visit, minister qahim and the UN team listened to a detailed explanation from the chairman of the board of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Mr. Zaid Ahmed Taha al-washali, and his deputy, Mr. Nasr Abdullah Al-nusairi, about the extent of damage caused to the port's infrastructure, the repercussions of this targeting on the operational and service aspects in the future, and the efforts and emergency works to ensure the continuation of cargo unloading operations and the flexibility of receiving ships

The minister of transport condemned the Israeli crime against the port of Hodeida, holding the United States and the Zionist entity fully responsible for this blatant attack, which targeted a sovereign civilian facility that provides humanitarian and commercial services to the country.

He pointed out that the Israeli enemy's targeting of the port of Hodeida reflects the state of helplessness and failure that it has reached in the face of the Yemeni popular steadfastness, and exposes its desperate attempts to bring Yemenis to their knees by hitting their vital arteries.

Minister qahim called on the UN mission to carry out its responsibilities assigned to it under the international mandate, condemn this brutal targeting, and submit a documented report on the damage and violations that affected the port, as a civilian facility subject to international protection under humanitarian laws.

He stressed that the failure of the United Nations to do its duty regarding this crime is an indirect complicity, and the consequences are borne by the international community, pointing out that the repercussions of the bombing affects the food and humanitarian security of millions of Yemenis who depend on the services of this maritime facility.

Minister qahim praised the steadfastness of the leadership of Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation and its employees, and their continued conduct of operational work despite difficult conditions and repeated challenges.

For their part, the members of the UN mission team expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the destruction of sidewalks, squares and infrastructure, expressing their deep concern about the seriousness of the situation, and what it portends of catastrophic repercussions on the humanitarian and service track in Yemen.
